Newsletter May 2015

Kudos Corner...

Firstly, We have got to say a huge thank you to Paul Ramage, John E, Kieran H, Ian T, for the excellent work that has gone into our new website. They have all been adding photographs, designing, editing the look and feel of the pages and ensuring it represents us and our community. Well done all, it looks amazing.

Previously @ CSC...

It's always good to see all of our box members continuing the community spirit outside of the classes. It was brilliant to see our members Steve Collins and Simon Chadwick attack the Monster Race obstacle course in April. Steve went on to complete "Farmageddon" a 20km obstacle run later in the month, stomping home some 2hrs after the starting pistols fired.

A big shout out to Lucie Anslow, also did us proud by competing at both the Oswestry throwdown in March and again at the Cheltenham throwdown in April. It's Great to see any member take the bull by the horns and put their training to the test in a competitive environment, it makes us proud.

Also well done to Kieran who completed X-runner with his brother who is also a dedicated member of the box.

Finally, how could we not conclude the box shout outs by congratulating Matthew Taylor in his amazing performance at the Battle of Britain. Matt took a well deserved 2nd place podium position with very little between him and the 1st place honour, great work buddy, keep it up.

In other news, the barbell club has been greatly received by all. Steph Owens continues to build  confidence in those participating in the workshops and it's great to see so many personal bests popping up on members timelines. The course continues into May, so if you're interested, the details can be found in the previous newsletter. There is an extra session being held for those interested on Sunday 3rd May, if your interested please speak to Tim or Georgina for details

Looking ahead @ CSC....

Sunday Strong Man Sessions

Between May and August, we are going to trial a Sunday Strongman session in the open gym between 12:30 - 13:30. The session will be part of your open gym entitlement.

The session isn’t planned, organised or structured, it will be scalable on the day by yourself and those around you. The movements will be chosen by you and then set out in a sensible manner by the coach on the day. As always If you need guidance or help then ask any member or the coaches participating. This session is meant to be fun for the community, a chance to do something off script with other like minded people who want to build strength in a fun group setting. It also allows us coaches to get down and play alongside you amazing people.
