How long have you been coming to Central Staffs CrossFit?
I joined Central Staffs CrossFit (CSC) in January 16 (4 months ago) after returning to the area for work.
What was your background in Fitness or Sport before you joined at CSC?
I have always been active and through work I regularly complete 2 to 3 sessions a week. Prior to joining CSC I attended a local gym where I would complete both cardio and strength training.
How did you hear about CrossFit & how did you hear about CSC specifically?
I have been enjoying CrossFit for about 3 years. I was introduced to the benefits of CrossFit by work colleagues however I never really found my CrossFit home until I joined CSC. Having moved back to the area I made a point of joining a CrossFit gym and after an extensive search I identified CSC via an internet review.
What do you enjoy the most about CrossFit at CSC?
Having previously experienced a couple of CrossFit boxes around the country I was looking for particular requirements which I have certainly found at CSC. Firstly, CrossFit is very much about the community and at CSC there is none better. All members are great fun and supportive whether its team training on a Saturday or squatting heavy on a Wednesday. Secondly for anyone trying to improve their fitness it’s all about the training and the WODs at CSC are very well structured, enjoyable and testing. Thirdly the coaching at CSC is excellent. Coaches will support your training all the way and ensure that if you need improvement even during the WODs that it is given!
What changes have you seen physically and mentally within yourself since you started at CSC?
My main weakness has always been my strength but since joining CSC I have seen a rapid increase in both physical strength and how I look from it. Mentally CSC has taught me how to push myself physically through the barriers I used to set myself.
I have also seen a big improvement in my mobility due to both after workout stretches and specific mobility classes.
Would you recommend CSC + CrossFit to friends, family & others? If yes, why?
I would certainly recommend CSC and CrossFit training in general to others. Some people often mention to me that they believe CrossFit is for the elite and often say ‘I couldn’t do that’. However at CSC every movement is scaled to the individual. It is not just about the person that finishes first in fact it is more about the person who pushes that extra little bit, the person who gets that 1 final rep.
