Member of the Year - James Haywood

We are pleased to announce our Member of the Year award to: (drum roll please 🥁)

James Haywood!

After lots of discussion, the coaches all agree that James is a super consistent guy since joining us and is a shining example of Team CSC. He always turns up to training with a smile on his face and is a positive guy for all to be around, from coaches to members.

Since joining us at CSC, James has shown a huge amount of progress in all areas, but is especially stands out with his efforts and commitment to his Olympic Lifting.

 James not only shows dedication to his training, but is also a valuable member of the CSC community. In the summer, he attended our charity walk this year and also came along recently to show his support to some of our lifters in the first ever West Midlands Tier 3 Weightlifting Comp.

We think you’ll all agree that James is just an all around nice guy who is smashing it in his training, this is why we’ve given him Member of the year! (Not only this, but he also has the best beard of the box too!)

Well done James!💪

Spirit of the Box - Gav Watkins

Spirit of the Box is our member-nominated award, for the member who embodies the spirit and values of CSC. This year’s Spirit of the Box is awarded to the one and only Flash Morgan Webster (aka Gav Watkins)!

What our members had to say:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A great person who always boosts me up during WODs, even when he’s not on them himself and is on open gym. Even coming in when injured to support people, a true spirit of the box. A real gem who is so easy to talk to and generally a fab human
‘I nominate Gav because he is always friendly and No. 1 chatty guy. What makes him stand out is his ability to ignore my age and treat me like a fellow gym rat. As well as egging me on during WODs, he also involved me in an open gym rowing challenge, which made me feel really good about myself and part of the Box community’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The coaching team couldn’t agree more with these nominations, as Gav is such a friendly, approachable guy who will chat to anyone and brighten their day!

Although Gav hasn’t had the easiest year himself through a bad injury and surgery, he has continued to show up consistently. Even if he’s on for open gym to do his rehab, he’s still cheering people along from the sidelines!

Gav is always making people laugh and listing people up, so for these reasons along with the votes from members, he’s our Spirit of the Box 2022!
